Gumption Risk Intuition Tenacity (GRIT)

For the thriving young entrepreneurs with an insatiable desire to launch a business, GRIT is what you need to succeed.

We connect with Ontario’s emerging and established entrepreneurs with practical and relevant advice on how to launch your business. Learn from their mistakes, ask them questions, grow from this experience.

The GRITshops

The Regional GRITshops are designed to amplify your industry knowledge through current trends and insights delivered by industry professionals. Whether it’s how to write an effective executive summary, how to realistically project financials, or the latest in marketing techniques, the GRITshops are a wealth of information to enhance your competition game. The GRITshops hold your competitive advantage – come and get it.

GRITshops are being offered at Sir John A. Macdonald SS and at Seneca College (Newnham campus) on November 12 and 13, respectively.  Registration is administered through our partner, Ticketfi, and will be announced as we near the event dates.

The GRIT Tank

The GRIT Tank is an Ontario specific competitive category in the realm of entrpereneurship at the Provincial Competition. With the structure of a typical DECA Business Management and Entrepreneurship Event, the GRIT Tank differs in that participants present their venture to a panel of business consultants and entrepreneurs in an interactive format allowing a conversation and analysis of the business idea by everyone in the room. Only the top 3 ideas move on to ICDC as competitors in the ENI category.

Note: participants must attend their regional GRITshops to qualify for this event at the Provincial Competition.

The GRIT Camp

Also known as our Summer Leadership Conference, this 3-day event is an intense bootcamp for aspiring leaders and entrepreneurs.

GRIT Testimonials

Not only did the GRITCamp help me polish up my existing skills, it introduced me to the real world of business. Networking, Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Collaboration were the main concepts of this summit, however I left the camp getting a feel of living on campus, understanding the importance of budgeting and learning from some of the most intelligent business minds. Thank you DECA Ontario for making this experience so enjoyable.      -Dipti Pandya

GRIT camp was definitely an amazing experience. I met a lot of friends that I’ll be sure to keep in contact with and learned lots about entrepreneurship. – Trevor Smith

I have been a part of DECA since the past 2 years and it has definitely been a life changing experience for me! Not only has DECA helped me increase my knowledge and passion for business but also gain valuable leadership skills. GRITCamp 2015 was an amazing experience for me to be able to learn about Youth Entrepreneurship and get a chance to network with a number of people at this year’s Summer Leadership Summit!     – Seher Sarin
